WELCOME TO THUNDERBOLT SURF AUSTRALIA
***********************************
Excess heat and UV rays are harmful to most products and surfboards are no exception. If you are hanging on the beach, always do your best to place your board in the shade. If shade isn't available, a useful tip is to tilt your board on its rail toward the sun, minimising the flat surface exposed to direct sunlight. Proper angling can prevent significant heating, but keep in mind that the sun moves rapidly during extended beach sessions.
All Thunderbolt surfboards undergo curing in an oven set between 50 to 55°C during production. The temperature inside a car can far exceed this range, especially when exposed to direct sunlight. Placing a surfboard in a vehicle under such conditions is a common cause of heat damage or delamination and should be avoided at all costs.
A board cover or particularly a padded cover with a reflective coating is the best solution for protecting your Thunderbolt. It provides protection direct from sunlight/UV rays and will have insulation properties that can help mitigate excess heat inside a vehicle or on a car roof. A cover will help stop dings & scratches which is its primary function. It will also keep your surfboard clean and stop it from putting wax on everything else.
